Accessibility statement

1. What this site aims for

The target is WCAG 2.2 at level AA. That is a target, not a certificate: this site has not been through a formal third party audit, and this page does not claim conformance it has not been given. Where a page falls short of AA and we know about it, it is listed in section 4.

2. How the site is built

Every page is one HTML document with a header, a single main landmark and a footer. There is one h1 per page and headings descend in order. Colour is never the only carrier of meaning. Text reflows to a single column at 375px without a horizontal scrollbar, and the layout survives text being enlarged to 200 per cent.

3. Keyboard, motion and contrast

• Every link, button, form field and filter can be reached and operated from a keyboard, and each shows a visible focus ring rather than relying on the browser default.
• Interactive targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
• Body and interface text meets a 4.5:1 contrast ratio against its own background; large display text meets 3:1.
• Every animation is reduced to a millisecond under the operating system's reduce-motion setting, including hover effects on cards and buttons.

4. Known limitations

Four things fall short today and are being worked on:

• The PDFs in the checklists and downloads library are not tagged for screen readers, so their reading order is the order the generator produced.
• The illustrations carry a one-sentence alt text describing what they show, rather than a long description of every element in them.
• The site has not been tested against the full matrix of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver — only against the checks named in section 5.
• There has been no audit by a third party or by disabled users, which is the only way some of this becomes properly known.

5. How this was tested

An automated suite runs over every published page and checks the language attribute, exactly one h1 per page, a label or accessible name on every link and button, an alt attribute on every image, alt text that is not a filename, and an accessible name on every navigation landmark. Contrast ratios and focus visibility were measured in a browser against the live pages rather than against a design file.

The last full run was on 22 August 2026: 164,480 checks across 91 pages, with no failures.

6. Reporting a problem

If any part of this site is difficult or impossible to use, email hi@bussinesstan.com with the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. A reply comes within one business day.

If a fix will take longer than that, the reply will say how long, and we will send you the content another way in the meantime — a plain text version, a readable document, or the answer in the email itself.

7. Standing and enforcement

Bussinesstan is a private company, so the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 do not apply to this site. The Equality Act 2010 does: it requires reasonable adjustments so that a disabled person is not put at a substantial disadvantage. This statement is our own commitment rather than a legal notice, and it is reviewed at least every 12 months and after any redesign.
